Happy New Year

January is here and I am busy getting ready to show ceramic work in a gallery setting internationally for the first time – my work usually takes the form of environmental installations.

Along with Robert Winter and others from the Ceramic Department, University of Sunderland, UK, I am preparing for our exhibition, starting early February.

Nest Eggs 2007. Stoneware, porcelain, oxides, grasses

We are showing our work at the Kala Kendra gallery space in Auroville, Pondicherry, in South East India. We have all visited this area over the last few years, working at, and with, Sri Sivam Pottery, a great local craft pottery in this magical place.

I am taking an autobiographical approach and will be including this piece which was originally shown in the UK.  It’s appropriate at the start of the calendar year to think of origins and eggs have symbolic meanings for many cultures.

Writing a blog is also a new venture and I hope I get better at formatting as time goes by…
